Singer-songwriter at heart, Matt Dunn and The Runaways seamlessly blend rock influences with catchy, soulful hooks and a little bit of their small town, Sulphur Springs, Texas roots for a unique sound all their own.

Matt Dunn is no stranger being on the run, beginning life on the move every three years or so as his family called Virginia, Michigan, Hawaii and California home during this step-father’s military career. Matt himself later served in the US Army and completed a tour of duty in Iraq.

The rock ‘n’ roll and 80’s hair metal that raised Matt has found it’s way into his original music since he started singing and songwriting at the age of 20. It was after he went to work on tour with Jack Ingram then Needtobreathe, Matt decided to pursue his own musical career with fervor.

Calling the road home for four years, Matt played music full-time and released his solo EP, Black Lines, in 2013 and has not released work since.

Matt has opened for Cody Jinks, Jack Ingram, Bart Crow, Will Hoge, Matthew Mayfield, Johnny Lee, Uncle Lucius, Radney Foster, Mickey & The Motorcars, Brandon Jenkins, Max Stalling, and The Damn Quails.

Though Matt’s band has seen many different variations, 2017 marked the beginning of The Runaways. Chris Moore, bassist and long-time friend, has been playing with Matt for a couple years, but a spark became flame when Seth Underwood, drummer, joined the band. Tyler Lenius has been playing guitar since he could walk. A long time friend, Tyler plays lead guitar for the band every chance he gets.

During one of the band’s first few shows, Matt gave the guys a break while he stayed on stage to play a couple songs acoustic. A couple songs turned into a couple more and the band still had not returned. They were found a three blocks down, enjoying a few drinks and from that night on, the band became known as Matt Dunn and The Runaways.

Desire, Matt Dunn and The Runaway’s debut album, will be released everywhere March 9th. The album was recorded at Modern Electric Studios in Dallas; mixed and mastered by Jon Ashley of Mixtown USA in Los Angeles.

Matt Dunn’s first full-length album is a deep dive into love, betrayal, new beginnings and a desire to find the things in life that truly matter. “We may be broken, but we are not done yet.”
